Prickly pears, from Sicily to Europe.
Prickly pears are the delicious fruits of a succulent plant that belongs to the same cactus family. Originally from Mexico, it has settled throughout the Mediterranean area,
in Africa, America and Asia. In practice it would have been easier to say, in the whole way.
Prickly pears are very rich in fiber, for this reason they are excellent fruits for those on a diet. The ease with which it is possible to multiply them has contributed to its diffusion in the world. Just take one of the shovels of the prickly pear, place it on the ground or cover it with earth and after just three months the shovel takes root! It is clear that the multiplication of these plants can also take place through sowing, cutting is certainly more practical and success is guaranteed.
Prickly pears, someone gives up the prickly pear for landscape reasons
In certain areas of the Mediterranean it has become a symbol of the place, we Sicilians know it well, we can easily find it even in the gutters of the country houses. In short, it is a very resistant plant as well as a very generous one. Incredibly in Tuscany the prickly pear is forbidden (we are talking about the cultivation) to avoid depreciating the landscape. These are the small contradictions of our country, where wild building is possible without intervention and instead such a generous plant of fantastic fruits is prohibited.
The fruits of the prickly pear are also found in controlled diets for diabetics, in fact the amount of fiber prevents the rapid absorption of sugars.
Among the elements present we find Calcium, Potassium, Phosphorus, Vitamin C, Carotenoids, Flavonoids
Benefits
Prickly pears are ideal for keeping young and fit because the presence of fibers and antioxidants oppose, as is known, the aging of the organs
I forgot! the flavor and the aroma, decidedly fantastic.
Prickly pears from Sicily to Europe and the whole world
Our production of prickly pears reaches its peak in this period with the fruit harvest. These pass into a belt where they will be brushed to remove the thorns. The eyes of the operators will do the rest, sending the waste, so to speak, to other production cycles where the aesthetic shape of the prickly pear is less important (eg production of jams). The fruit that passes the "aesthetic" test is packaged, weighed and sent for sale.
